F-14 Squadrons 1970 - 2006

This page will give you a quick overview about who operates the F-14 or did operate it once upon a time... Also, you will find a brief History, F-14 squadron badges and F-14 colours on these pages for each squadron. (The F-14 sideview graphics show colour schemes as they were actually applied to Tomcats, nothing fictional!)

Please note, that the information about the disestablished squadrons describes the final status. The dates given below for each squadron marks only the period when it was F-14 equipped.

Individual squadron tail markings differ from time to time, especially when changing the Air Wing. A list of two-letter Tailcodes for each Air Wing can be found here.

The Black Aces Fighting Fourty-One were awarded the 1999 RADM Clarence Wade McClusky award for best attack squadron! Previously this award was only given to A-6 or F/A-18 squadrons! The Black Aces smashed that tradition with their selection as the 1999 recipient. The CNO, before awarding the McClusky award to VF-41, considered all aspects of strike warfare from readiness and training to actual combat employment.
