F-14 Final Flight



On September 22, 2006, the official final flight of a US Navy F-14 Tomcat was celebrated at NAS Oceana.
In front of an audience of several hundred US Navy and civil spectators, representatives from Northrop Grumman, the city of Oceana and the US Navy held speeches about the fabulous time with the Tomcat.



The programm of the official Final Flight Events:
  • Sept. 21, 2006

    • 1600h: Tomcat monument and Walk of Heroes dedication at the Tomcat static display in the Airpark adjacent ot NAS Oceana O'Club
  • Sept. 22, 2006

    • 1000h: Final Flight Ceremony at Hangar 500 w/ speakers (CAPT John McCandlish, Oceana Major Meyera Oberndorf, Corp. Vice President Northrop Grumman Integrated Systems Scott Seymour, Commander U.S. Fleet Forces Command ADM John Nathman
    • 1115h: The last official F-14 flight by VF-31 F-14D AJ103 BuNo 163902!
    • 1200h: Get together at NAS Oceana O'Club
  • Sept. 23, 2006 - Symposium

    • 0830h: F-14 Association meeting
    • 1000h: The Tomcat Firsts
    • 1200h: The Tomcat Community Transformed
    • 1400h: The Tomcat Combat Chronicles

Final Flight Event admission ticket:

When VF-31 F-14D AJ102 (BuNo 164904) was launched to do the final flight ... it almost broke down. As a back-up aircraft, VF-31 F-14D AJ107 (BuNo 164902) took off and made a final flight past the crowd before disappearing in the sky ...
