Practice Bombs
For training purposes, F-14 crews train with practice bombs. These smaller dummy bombs, which are
usually painted with blue colours, are less expensive than their explosive brothers but enable
the same bomb run practices. Also, the smaller Mk.76 and BDU-33 practice bombs are often used
in combination with the Mk.58 Marine Location Marker (see below photo): The MLM is dropped into
the water to give pilots an aim point in the water when dropping the practice bombs.
